Abstract L‐ascorbic acid (AA) is an essential nutrient that plays a vital role in our day‐to‐day body function, and maintaining health, for example, by serving as antioxidant. AA oxidation generates various products, some of which have not been identified. In this investigation, we show the room temperature reaction with copper sulfate (CuSO 4 ) product exhibits blue fluorescence. We studied how parameters impacted fluorescence emission intensity, varying reactant concentration, time, pH. Mass spectrometry allowed identification probable products molecular formulae C 10 H 6 O 7 8 ; chemical structures possible are also proposed.
